Emergency Notification System

Code Maroon is our official university emergency notification system. It allows us to communicate health and safety information in critical emergencies. These include situations that pose an imminent physical threat. Subscribe to Code Maroon text alerts on the Code Maroon website.

Emergency Phones

Physical blue light emergency phones are located throughout campus and distinguished by a blue light. In an emergency, open the door on the weatherproof box and press the red button. A police dispatcher will immediately know your location and be able to speak with you. You may also access the blue light phones via a mobile device in the Code Maroon app.

Corps of Cadets Safety Escorts

The Corps of Cadets provides safety escorts to students and employees from 6 p.m.-7 a.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends during the fall and spring semesters. Escorts can walk you to and from libraries, classroom buildings, parking areas, residence halls and other campus locations. To request a safety escort, call 979-845-6789.

Safe Rides from CARPOOL

CARPOOL provides free, safe, nonjudgmental rides home in Bryan-College Station. The student-run, non-profit organization offers rides from 10 p.m.-3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during spring and fall semesters. It doesn't matter whether you are a student. Contact CARPOOL at 979-693-9905.

Our university has procedures in place for emergencies related to personal safety, severe weather, medical emergencies, fires and hazardous materials.

Assistance for Students in Emergencies

Critical Incident Response Team

A Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), consisting of university administrators and staff, helps respond to critical incidents involving students. The team is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

To activate the team, contact the University Police Department at 979-845-2345. For general information or questions about CIRT, call Student Assistance Services at 979-845-3113.

Contacting a Student During Family Emergencies

Often families need to reach students during family emergencies. Calling students might be difficult if an emergency occurs while they are in class. The University Police Department can assist you in contacting your student. Families can contact our police department at 979-845-2345.
