About the scholarship

A Scholarship of up to $40,000pa for a domestic or international student enrolled in a PhD in Planning. The Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by a bequest from Philip Robert Deibert, who began his career as an architectural draughting cadet at the Ministry of Works and Development (MWD) in 1960. He graduated from the University of Auckland with a Diploma in Architecture in 1966, registered as an architect in 1969, and continued to work as an MWD project architect. Like many architects of his generation, Deibert's interests and work extended to the realm of town planning, and included Wellington's Government Precinct. The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support an academically excellent domestic, or international student who is paying domestic fees, to undertake doctoral study in Planning at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
