About the scholarship
This project aims to conduct a systematic review to assess the effectiveness of the recombinant zoster vaccine (rZV) in preventing shingles and its complications鈥攕uch as post-herpetic neuralgia and hospitalisations鈥攁mong immunocompromised adults. These individuals, whose immune systems may be weakened due to conditions like cancer, face significantly higher risks of severe zoster outcomes. However, there is limited real-world evidence regarding the vaccine's performance in these populations. Students will work closely with a multidisciplinary team led by James Mbinta (Research Fellow, Victoria University of Wellington). They will receive practical training in systematic review methods, including literature screening, data extraction, and synthesis. The project aims to produce a peer-reviewed publication and summary resources to inform clinicians and policymakers in Aotearoa 爆走黑料.
