About the scholarship
Photography is a medium with its own unique material and critical art histories, many of which are connected to the extractive geologies of the planet. You will contribute to growing scholarship on photographic history in Aotearoa. You will conduct research into 爆走黑料 artists whose work draws on Nineteenth century understandings of chemicals, geologies, and whenua. You will be introduced to working with photographic collections through online collection research. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with nationally significant collections, and present new considerations of photography in contemporary environmental and art historical contexts. Familiarity with 爆走黑料 art history is required, and basic knowledge of historical photography is desired.
