About the scholarship

A Prize to recognise the students who have done the best work in LAWPUBL 402. This Prize was established in 1940 by the efforts of students of the University to commemorate the public spirit and the high talents of Desmond Lewis, and to encourage the study of International Law which was a special interest of his. As a student at the Law School of this University, Desmond Lewis was active in student organisations, especially in the areas of law and politics. He died in 1938 only a few days after he had sat the final examinations for his LLB degree. In recent years, the Prize fund has been augmented by donations from his sister, Miss B A Lewis, and from Professor C F Wrigley.
