About the scholarship
The Prize was established in 2013 in memory of Waerete Norman, who taught M膩ori language and culture in the Department of M膩ori Studies at the University of Auckland. The main purpose of the Prize is to encourage and reward student achievement in the study of the literature and/or culture of wahine M膩ori at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
