About the scholarship

The New Materials and Technologies Development Research Team at Victoria University of Wellington is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering to contribute to research on the development, characterisation, applications, and manufacture of new materials and products derived from proprietary nanostructured calcium silicate material. The project aims to develop more sustainable agricultural practices through the creation of novel controlled-release fertilisers that match nutrient availability with plant demand, thereby reducing nutrient run-off and pollution. Responsibilities include conducting laboratory work, developing manufacturing methods, collaborating on field trials, and engaging with industry partners.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have completed a Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with Honours in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with First or Upper Second Class Honours (or similar), or an equivalent GPA score.
