About the scholarship
Maori Medium Primary Career Changer ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ are for people wanting to teach in bilingual and total immersion classes in primary schools.
They provide financial assistance so the loss of income you experience while studying is not a barrier to obtaining a teaching qualification.
These scholarships are also available for people who are not qualified teachers but are currently working in a school either teaching te reo Maori; as a specialist Maori language teacher such as a kaiarahi reo teacher; or who have Limited Authority to Teach in a Maori-medium school.
These scholarships are for people enrolling into their first year of an approved Maori-medium teacher education qualification commencing at the start of the 2019 academic year.
Entry requirements
Applicants must:
*be a ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ citizen or permanent resident *be changing career to become a qualified teacher, or have Limited Authority to Teacher *have applied to enrol into an approved Graduate Diploma/Master of Secondary Teaching *have proficiency in te reo Maori to a level that meets the requirements of the tertiary provider *have leadership experience *have support from iwi and/or Maori leaders in the community.
