About the scholarship

This scholarship has been established by Lloyd Geering in memory of his wife Elaine Geering. Elaine, who was undertaking a PhD in English Literature at Victoria University of Wellington up until the time of her death in 2001, was particularly interested in Old English and Medieval Literature. The purpose is to assist any Honours, Masters or PhD students undertaking courses/research in the English department at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington, or students who have completed their undergraduate studies at Victoria University of Wellington and are currently enrolled in postgraduate study of English at an approved overseas institution.

How To Apply

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.

Applications will normally open one month prior to the closing date.

Entry requirements

The scholarship is open to any Honours, Masters or PhD students undertaking courses/research in the English department at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington, or to students who have completed their undergraduate studies at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington and are currently enrolled in postgraduate study of English at an approved overseas institution.
