Embrace M膩tauranga M膩ori through Whakairo (Carving), R膩ranga (Weaving) or Rauangi (Visual arts).
NorthTec鈥檚 Maunga Kura Toi (Bachelor of M膩ori Arts) is a unique opportunity to learn Whakairo (Carving), R膩ranga (Weaving) or Rauangi (Visual arts), with 膩konga (students) gaining a deeper understanding of Ng膩 Toi (M膩ori Arts). The degree equips students to contribute significantly to Toi M膩ori, Te Ao M膩ori, communities and industries.
Our 膩konga are taught by Kaiako (tutors) who are passionate and skilled in their fields of expertise, and willing to impart knowledge to the next generation of artists.
With Tikanga, M膩tauranga M膩ori and customary knowledge being the foundation of the degree, 膩konga are supported and enabled to be culturally aware, critically analytical, reflective and responsive about Toi M膩ori, its challenges and potential.
Learning takes place through weekly tutorials, either in person or online. Monthly w膩nanga held at Te Puna o Te M膩tauranga marae enable 膩konga to study off-campus for much of the programme.
