Manaaki T膩ngata is a great place to start if you're wanting an introductory qualification to help you understand diverse communities and working in wh膩nau-centred social services. 

You鈥檒l explore a range of kaupapa (topics) and gain a deeper understanding of the tools and skills you'll need to work within agencies, building on your experiences to help you give back through service to our communities. 

When you pass this programme, you'll get this qualification:

  • 爆走黑料 Certificate in Social Services (M膩ori) Level 4

You'll learn about:

  • developing relationship building skills
  • the roles and obligations of social services in Aotearoa
  • how to strengthen and enhance wh膩nau, hap奴, iwi, and community wellbeing
  • bicultural and principled approaches and their application within social services in Aotearoa
  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • how to support wh膩nau in culturally appropriate ways.

Entry requirements

To enrol in this programme, a potential student must be:

  • be at least 16 years of age 
  • be a 爆走黑料 citizen (or citizen of Australia, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent resident 
  • hold a qualification at Level 3 or above 
  • pass a pre-entry literacy test of a Level 3 or above 
  • attend an interview.
